Pack 565 Frequently Asked Questions
What is Pack 565?
Cub Scout Pack 565 is for
boys in first grade through fifth grade and is chartered by the Boy Scouts of
America, Longhorn Council, Trinity Trails
District. We are located in southwest
How many scouts are in Pack 565?
As with any Pack, membership is always a little in flux, but generally there are between 20 and 40 boys that are active.
How often do you meet?
We have a Pack Meeting the fourth Thursday of each month from September to May at 6:30PM at Westminster Presbyterian Church. Individual dens meet at predetermined times according to their individual needs and schedules. The Pack meeting is the highlight activity of the month with announcements, awards, skits and advancements.
How many boys are in each den?
It varies. The ideal den size is between 5-8 boys, but as with anything, we are fairly flexible. Some dens may have less than 5 boys, while others will have more than 8.
What are the annual dues and where does the money go?
Annual dues for Pack 565 are
$65 per year. $28.25
registration dues is sent to the Longhorn Council and includes a
subscription to Boys’ Life magazine.
Dues can be earned from our annual Popcorn sales drive. The pack dues cover the operating costs of the pack, costs of awards, pack activities and our annual Blue and Gold Banquet. More details are available from a den leader or the Cubmaster.
What is the Blue and Gold Banquet?
The Blue and Gold Banquet is a very special evening. Each year, we hold the banquet in place of our February Pack Meeting. It is where the entire pack comes together to honor our Webelos II scouts who receive their final awards (including the coveted Arrow of Light) and bridge into Boy Scouting. Scoutmasters from local troops are there to help officiate the ceremony and induct the boys into their new troop. It is an evening filled with laughter, excitement, tradition, ceremony and also tears, as we say a final farewell to many families that have been part of Pack 565 for several years.
How often is this website updated?
As with any volunteer organization, it is all "time permitting". We try to keep the website as up-to-date as possible, but sometimes real life steps in and it will be quite some time before that is done. There is always a date at the top of the main page as to when the last update occurred.
